What is TranceMIDI?

TranceMIDI is a Mac desktop app for designing trance track arrangements step by step and exporting MIDI blueprints to your DAW. It is not a DAW or a synth. It is a blueprint tool for completing the skeleton of your track before touching a single synthesizer.

It covers genre/mood/key selection, chord progressions, arrangement building, layer configuration, bass/arp/pluck/gate patterns, melody sketch, expression adjustment, and per-section MIDI export -- everything you need to design a trance track.

13 Genres x 16 Moods

Choose from 13 trance sub-genres: Uplifting, Progressive, Psy/Goa, Classic 2000s, Emotional, Festival, Cyber, Dark Progressive, Tech, Melodic Progressive, Dream, Hard Trance, Deep Progressive. Each genre auto-recommends BPM ranges and chord progressions.

16 moods (Euphoric, Emotional, Floating, Dark, Driving, Melancholic, Hypnotic, Aggressive, Dreamy, Epic, Nostalgic, Psychedelic, Tense, Warm, Cold, Cinematic) shape the emotional direction of your track. Mood selection influences the energy curve and expression.

Each progression has genre compatibility, mood tags, and energy levels. Progressions matching your current genre and mood are auto-filtered. Preview playback lets you hear the harmony instantly. 24 keys available.

Smart Arrangement

13 section types with drag-to-reorder: Intro, Groove, Build, Build Up, Break, Breakdown, Mini Break, Atmospheric Bridge, Drop, Second Drop, Final Drop, Fake Drop, Outro, DJ Outro. Bar count is adjustable per section.

Layers

Layer Matrix

Control up to 16 layers per section: Kick, Hat, Snare, Percussion, Sub Bass, Offbeat Bass, Rolling Bass, Pad Chords, Pluck, Arp, Melody, Lead, Vocal Placeholder, FX, Filter Automation Guide. Density, velocity, note length, and MIDI channel are adjustable per layer.

Guide tracks (kick, hat, snare, etc.) are markers showing where to place your own samples. TranceMIDI itself has no synth engine -- it outputs the blueprint of 'when and what plays'.

Melody

Melody Sketch

Draw melodies on a chromatic grid. Notes in your selected scale are highlighted so you can see which notes are in key at a glance. Octave offset, real-time preview. Your sketched melody is included in MIDI export.

Expression

15 Expression Sliders

Energy, Emotional Depth, Darkness, Euphoria, Drive, Complexity, Breakdown Drama, Psychedelic Level, Human Feel, Groove Intensity, Aggression, Warmth, Atmosphere, Tension, Release. Move sliders to shape your track's character, influencing layer density and pattern selection.

Output Format

MIDI Export

Exports as Standard MIDI File (.mid). Export options include:

• •Single file: All sections merged into one .mid
• •Per section: Individual files like Intro.mid, Build.mid, Drop.mid
• •ZIP package: All stems bundled in a ZIP
• •Tempo track: Includes BPM changes for breakdowns and build-ups
• •MIDI markers: For section navigation in DAW
• •Auto-generated: Sidechain CC#11, FX risers, snare rolls, crash impacts

Compatible with Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Studio One, Bitwig, and all other DAWs. Just drag and drop the MIDI file.

Preview

Overview & Playback

Color-coded section timeline, per-track MIDI visualization, and real-time audio playback with loop mode. Preview your entire arrangement while seeing the big picture.

Files

Project Files

TranceMIDI saves and restores projects as .tma files. Manage multiple projects and resume editing anytime. Unsaved changes trigger a warning when quitting the app.
